Multiplayer Update/Patch

Multiplayer patch for PC live, console in testing

Infinity Ward finally patched some glitches for PC, console patch is in testing now. More details inside...

As you might know from previous updates, you can't play the game without updating to the latest version. Although some fixes can be done with simple "live patching" in the playlists, this is a full update that includes the following fixes:

  • Care Package, Emergency Airdrop, and Sentry Gun marker grenades sprint speed normalized.
  • Sentry Guns: Improved placement detection, preventing cases of Sentry Guns inside geometry.
  • Model 1887: Bling using Akimbo and FMJ combination now has same range and damage as non-Bling Model 1887s.
  • Improved player collision removing cases of getting into geometry and 'elevators'.
  • Mouse latency tweaks for more mouse movement consistency. (PC-ONLY)
  • Fixes to prevent various texture (PC-ONLY) and XP hacks.

Before you ask why there is a delay from PC to consoles, it's because we can update IW-NET directly and therefore the fastest. Negative XP glitch

So apparently there is a glitch going around on the consoles which is the opposite of the "instant prestige" glitch in which you got so much XP that you would instantly prestige with just one kill. This time around, you will get so much negative XP that you will instantly go back to level 1 of your current prestige.

However, @LORANT92 provided us with a little trick so you won't have to start all over - but you have to act quickly when you're dropped in a game like this. As your XP will only be updated to the IW-NET servers when you either exit the match or when the match ends, you can quickly go back to your dashboard or disconnect your network cable / wifi and the stats will not be uploaded to IW-NET.

If you dashboard/disconnect from LIVE/PSN, the stats won't count.
Meaning you won't lose XP.
If you leave the match the usual way (by selecting 'leave game'), the stats will count, so you'll be a level 1.
If you finish the match, the stats will count.
You have to dashboard/disconnect while in the game, or else the stats will count.
