Scrapped Multiplayer MaterialThere is way more scrapped material in MW2 than we initially thought, not just game modes but also audio and weapons. Awhile back » we revealed that PC modders discovered various Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer modes hidden on the disk. These are modes that we're unfinished and only likely to appear via playlist updates, if ever completed, rather than as paid DLC. Bon3zz1001on has now discovered more hidden gems within the game, and posted this up on the Xbox Forums. These include audio voiceovers that reveal names of multiplayer modes which never made it into the game, as well as certain weapons that too did not make it into the game.
Voice-overs
Fourzerotwo has commented on the voice-over sounds via his Twitter page.
So there you have it! These voice-over sounds are just simply evidence of modes that we're cut before launch. Weapons![]() Like Bon3zz1001on said in his initial post, there are also lots of unused weapons that can be found in the MW2 source files. Some of them are from CoD4:MW and may have been used in early development testing, before being switched for new weapons (G3/FAL, R700/Intervention, MP9/TMP, etc). The fact that most of these weapons have a texture of 512x512 pixels while all new weapons have a texture of 1024x1024 pixels support that idea, but there is no way to know this for sure. Fact is, there are weapons that ended up being hidden, like the outrageous Power Drill. After reviewing that texture we're certain that it was meant as prop (random non-useable object) and not as a weapon. It's texture is put on a 128x128 pixels canvas, almost 10 times smaller than all in game weapons. So now you know what that image to the right is supposed to be, a paper do-it-yourself Power Drill kit for very, very short people ;) What do you think of this? Would you like to see the modes in future playlist updates? How about the weapons? A Power Drill!? Head over to our forums » and let us know your take on things. Xbox 360 Update? In other news, Fourzerotwo has indicated via the Infinity Ward forums that the latest Xbox 360 patch has been pulled from Microsoft certification due to "additional fixes". Patch 1.08 recently arrived on PS3 and PC but has been delayed on Xbox 360 to allow for more fixes to be addressed, including a permanent fix to the Unlimited Care Package glitch.
We know this can be a frustrating wait for Xbox 360 gamers but stay patient, for the Care Package glitches will soon be vanquished! The patch re-entered certification last Friday so it can't be long now (thanks @ItzEddie). Still no word on how quick this will also be dispatched on PC and PS3 but you can count on us keeping you up to date when new information arrives. ~boyle111 |
